Ranger: longbow, shortbow, mainhand axe, and war horn are all ranged weapons and powerful options. Thief: scepter specter is very meta and ranged. Deadeye has pistols and rifle as well, but not super meta for group content. Engineer: rifle engineer is exceptionally powerful and simple to play right now. Like, overpowered level.
The classes and spec options within the classes are varied enough that pretty much any class fantasy you enjoy playing is represented, and viable, for core. Visually, the elementalist is the most fun. Mechanically also the elementalist. But real gameplay, ele is hard work and can be frustrating.
Yes, including ~43k on small hitbox. Condi willbender has very high damage output (40k IIRC), far higher than power WB which is pretty much on par with DH when running radiance and significantly higher than cFB aswell. Full condi specter has high damage output but falls slightly short of condi DD. Bladesworn has a significantly (3-4k) higher
A second set of Berserker gear (for power dps) is cheap from the trading post, and having these two sets sets you up for just about any end-game content in the game. Classes that are (near) meta with celestial are Firebrand, Tempest, Renegade. All three are also powerhouses in open world content in full celestial gear.
As supports normally firebrand and renegade are the best options. So there isnt a best fractal class but if we go by the most useful it should be guardian because as healer it can carry your group through everything and as dps it is really strong while still bringing some healer utilities/boons. 1. Weapons do matter but for open world it's not as important. As for good beginner classes Warrior, Ranger and Guardian are great picks. Necromancer is an easy class but it teaches bad habits because it's so tanky it tells you AoE isn't as dangerous as it actually is. Necromancer is a safe class to boost once you get the hang of the game though.
In my opinion, thief class in GW2 pvp scene is really more of a harasser or damage/points capture support. They can't 1v1 effectively but a good thief will be able to win a 2v2, 2v3, and sometime even 2v4 for his team. They have good burst combo and various options to jump in and out of a single battle when needed.
